Alterier is an independent shop. It has the studio function where individual products are designed, created and sold.
It was founded in 2015 by Ayumi Florio Kohsaka .
Ayumi carefully selects and creates the Alterier products as if each one were a gift to a friend, with the result that every project is not only fashioned with the recipient in mind but imbued with the personality and spirit of the maker.
Ayumi has worked for many prestigious creative organisations in both London and Tokyo. Her previous jobs for worldwide retail companies have included positions in advertising, sales and promotional departments.
Highly skilled in the business side of fashion having graduated in commercial apparel, her roots in the making and selecting of fine arts run deeper still, stemming from her Mother (a dressmaker) and Father (art collector).
Ayumi’s hand-made clothing debuted in London in 2003, coinciding with the launch of her first website and online sales outlet.
From that time she was frequently able to offer her skills in co-ordination and organisation for the benefit of a number of high profile projects, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
She also enjoyed making props and art objects in textile and paper for many of the most respected high-street brands in London.
This accumulated experience led to a combined expertise in both the creative and marketing side of fashion and textiles. Alterier is the most complete product of this experience, born according to Ayumi’s distinctive personal vision, aided by forthright and knowledgable advice from Marco Florio.
Alterier continues to demonstrate its unique products to local customers as well as the wider London community.
